The three-volume compilation published under the professional guidance of József Kiss by the Akadémiai Kiadó, collects non-fiction textual sources related to the life and work of Sándor Petőfi in the following thematic groups: Volume I collects material from the contemporary press and other contemporary printed sources; Volume II collects letters and diaries of contemporaries; while Volume III partly inventories personal and official documents of Petőfi and his family and partly publishes the missing parts of the first two volumes.
